Both materials can be identified by paying attention to the ingredients listed on the makeup product packaging. However, water and silicone are not clearly indicated. According to Dinda, almost all makeup products have an ingredient list that starts with ‘water’. Therefore, Dream friends should pay attention to the ingredients after ‘water’ or ‘aqua’. Makeup that is classified as silicone-based usually contains ingredients with the suffix ‘-cone’, ‘-methicone’, or siloxane.

Some examples of its contents are Cyclopentasiloxane, Titanium Dioxide, Methyl Trimethicone, and Dimethicone. Meanwhile, makeup classified as water-based does not contain the ingredients mentioned earlier. “Usually, besides water, it also contains glycerin. Even though (the ingredients) below include Dimethicone, Silicone, and others, we still consider that product to be water-based,” explained Dinda.

The selection of makeup content is also related to skin condition. Dream friends with oily skin and uneven textured faces may be more suitable for using silicone-based makeup. Meanwhile, water-based makeup is more appropriate for use when the skin is dry and prone to acne.

"Regardless of your skin condition, you also need to match the makeup ingredients with the moisturizer and sunscreen used beforehand. Make sure the sunscreen and moisturizer have compatible ingredients with the makeup products. Don't forget to always let each skincare and makeup product absorb or set on your face before using the next product."
