"Dream - The power outage that occurred in the southern region of Sumatra (Sumbagsel) on Tuesday, June 4, to Wednesday, June 5, 2024, has caused a stir among the public. The blackout or total power outage happened quite extensively, not just in one area."
"PT PLN (Persero) stated that the power outage is suspected to be due to a disturbance in the 275 kV Lubuklinggau-Lahat transmission line. The power outage affected around 600 thousand customers."
According to Liputan6.com, PLN UID West Sumatra General Manager Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho stated that from the inspections conducted by field officers, PLN found minor causes such as towers close to trees, disconnected jumpers, and others. However, this has not yet been confirmed as the main cause.
"Meanwhile, the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman Hutajulu, said he has not yet received complete information regarding the cause of the power outage."
"However, he ensures that the relay (which functions to control the flow of electricity) works well, so that when there is a disturbance, the flow of electricity is interrupted."
"The relay works to extinguish, that's the essence," said Jisman quoted from Merdeka.com, Thursday, June 6, 2024. In addition, Jisman also requested PLN to carry out mitigation so that such blackout incidents do not happen again. 'It must be investigated. It must be audited. It should not happen again, that is also an order from the Minister,' said Jisman."
The translation of "Kompensasi dari PLN" to English is "Compensation from PLN".
From the incident, PT PLN (Persero) promised compensation for customers in West Sumatra affected by the power outage. The compensation provided is a 10 percent reduction in electricity rates.
"Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho said, this compensation applies to PLN customers affected by power outages lasting more than 8 hours."
“Compensation is given when the power goes out for eight hours. So, if the outage is more than eight hours, we provide a compensation discount of 10 percent,”
