The Virtue of a Well-Accepted Hajj: The Best Form of Jihad

The Virtue of a Well-Accepted Hajj: The Best Form of Jihad

Worshiping someone's Hajj can be valid, but it may not necessarily be accepted by Allah SWT.

Dream - Fulfilling the pilgrimage is a dream for the majority of Muslims. In Islam, the pilgrimage is an obligatory act of worship if the Muslim is capable. Capability here not only refers to financial capability, but also physical and mental capability. This is because the pilgrimage requires a lot of preparation. Well, it is important for Dream's friends to know that the pilgrimage is also part of jihad. In fact, it becomes a better form of jihad when the pilgrimage is accepted and rewarded.

The following is an explanation of the jihad of haji mabrur along with the definition of haji mabrur as summarized by Dream through various sources.

The Virtue of Accepted Hajj, Becomes the Best Jihad
What is a Mabrur Hajj?

What is a Mabrur Hajj?

During the hajj season, Dream's friends must often hear expressions or prayers given to prospective pilgrims for their hajj to be accepted (mabrur).

Then, what is haji mabrur? Regarding the understanding of mabrur, there are several opinions from the scholars as quoted from jatim.nu.or.id as follows:

The Virtue of Accepted Hajj, Becomes the Best Jihad

1. Haji yang Tidak Tercampuri Kemaksiatan 1. Hajj without Being Tainted by Sin

"'Al-mabrur' comes from the word 'al-birr' which means obedience. It means a pilgrimage that is performed with full obedience, so it is not mixed with sins. This opinion is according to Muhyiddin Syarf an-Nawawi and is considered as a valid opinion."

2. Replied with Rewards

The following 'Bahasa' text translated to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The Hajj that is accepted is marked by someone's return as a better person than before and no longer repeating the sinful deeds that were once done. As explained in the book Syarhus Suyuthi li Sunan an-Nasa'i: "There is an opinion that says: a mabrur Hajj is a Hajj that is accepted and rewarded with goodness, namely rewards. Meanwhile, the sign of someone's Hajj being accepted is becoming better than before and not repeating sinful acts."

3. Not Riya

Haji mabrur is for those who do not possess the trait of showing off after performing the hajj pilgrimage. Showing off, or riya, is to display or demonstrate one's possessions to others with the intention of showcasing superiority or to boast. In this case, what is being displayed is the hajj pilgrimage.

4. Without Accompanied by Sin

In the book Syarhus Suyuthi li Sunan An-Nasa'i, it is explained: "There are scholars who say that a mabrur pilgrimage is a pilgrimage that does not contain elements of showing off. There are other scholars who say that a mabrur pilgrimage is one that is not accompanied by acts of disobedience. Both of these views fall into the category of the previous views."

Haji Mabrur is the Best Jihad

Haji Mabrur is the Best Jihad

Listening to the word jihad is not always associated with warfare to defend the religion of Allah SWT. In Islam, jihad can be done in various ways, one of which is performing the hajj pilgrimage.

Nah, performing the hajj pilgrimage has extraordinary virtues. Namely, it can receive abundant rewards and a guarantee of paradise, especially for those who perform the hajj with devotion. As explained in the following hadith: "There is no reward for a hajj performed with devotion except Paradise." (Narrated by Tirmidhi) In addition, another hadith also explains that a hajj performed with devotion is the best form of jihad. As Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) once said: "We see that jihad is the most virtuous deed, so why should we (women) not participate in jihad? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'For you, there is a better and more virtuous form of jihad, which is the hajj performed with devotion.'" (Narrated by Bukhari)

So, a blessed pilgrimage is not only limited to the validity of the pilgrimage itself. But also accepted by Allah SWT. Because it is possible for someone's pilgrimage to be valid and fulfill the obligation of pilgrimage, but it is not certain that the pilgrimage will be accepted by Allah SWT. Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali said: "A pilgrimage may be few in number, but perhaps Allah SWT bestows grace upon a pilgrim who is not good because of the good pilgrim."
