Garuda Indonesia Serves Round Trip Umrah Flights from Kertajati-Jeddah Airport, Check the Schedule

Dream - National airline Garuda Indonesia makes it easier for residents of West Java who want to perform the umrah pilgrimage. This state-owned company provides direct flights from West Java International Airport, Kertajati, Majalengka, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Garuda Indonesia uses the B777-300 ER fleet, which is capable of carrying at least 370 umrah pilgrims.

The President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk, Irfan Setiaputra, said that the opening of direct flights to the Holy Land from Kertajati is not only a form of the company's commitment as a national flag carrier. This service is also Garuda Indonesia's support for the development of Kertajati Airport as an aviation hub in West Java.

"The presence of direct flights to the Holy Land from Kertajati is also our effort to optimize the umrah market opportunities, which are currently growing, especially from the West Java region," explained Irfan in his written statement on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Kertajati-Jeddah Flight Schedule for Umrah

The Kertajati-Jeddah round trip flight is served once a week, on Sundays, and operated with GA 902 departing from Kertajati International Airport at 11:40 AM local time and arriving at King Abdul Aziz International Airport at 5:30 PM local time.

Meanwhile, the return flight from Jeddah to Kertajati will be served with GA 903 and will depart from King Abdul Aziz International Airport at 7:30 PM local time and arrive at Kertajati International Airport at 10:00 AM local time.

Irfan added that the umrah flight service from Kertajati, Majalengka is in line with the company's efforts to optimize production capacity.

Key Market Share

Primarily, Garuda Indonesia continues to optimize flight routes with positive performance, including through the development of the umrah market share as one of the key market shares in Indonesia.

The development of the umrah market is carried out, among other things, by operating direct flights to the Holy Land through 5 major cities in Indonesia, namely Banda Aceh, Yogyakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, and Kertajati, gradually.

"At the same time, it can also contribute positively to the economic growth of West Java, especially through Majalengka and its surroundings," concluded Irfan.

It is known that access to Kertajati Airport is currently connected to the Cisumdawu Toll Road, which was inaugurated by President Jokowi on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. The presence of this toll road makes the mobility of the community, especially from Bandung, shorter and easier.

"Plus, the Cisumdawu Toll Road has been completed and inaugurated, so the travel distance between Kertajati Airport and Bandung, which is approximately 1 hour, will also accelerate the development of Kertajati Airport," said Jokowi.

Jokowi said that Kertajati, which is an international airport, is now increasingly busy with airline usage. One of them is being used as the embarkation and disembarkation point for 8,000 pilgrims in seven districts and cities in West Java.

Kertajati Airport is also being used to depart umrah pilgrims with four flights per week.

Private airlines are known to have started opening regular international flights at Kertajati, namely flights to and from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Jokowi believes that the full connection of the Cisumdawu Toll Road will also increase the occupancy of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati.

"I see that when other countries flock here, it means there is something here," added Jokowi.

Jokowi is optimistic that this condition can be realized after Kertajati Airport serves the 2023 hajj embarkation from West Java. He believes that the international airport can attract the interest of foreign airlines to come.

"I see Kertajati Airport, supported by the Cisumdawu Toll Road, as our future airport. Because many foreign countries want to enter and partner with Kertajati Airport, either to operate or increase the existing traffic," he said.
