Dream - QS World University Ranking 2024 has just released a list of the best universities in the world for the 2023 report. University of Indonesia (UI) remains the best university in Indonesia, surpassing other universities in the country.
UI's ranking in the QS World University Ranking 2024 has also improved, moving up 11 places to 237th position in the world.
Following behind the university based in Depok, West Java, are Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in second place and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in third place.
The ranking of the best universities in the world according to QS World University Ranking is made by collecting data from nearly 1,500 educational institutions worldwide. Several criteria are used, ranging from academic reputation, alumni employment, to student-to-faculty ratio.
QS World University Ranking states that the average score of institutions in Indonesia is the second highest in Asia.
Meanwhile, the first place is occupied by India, which achieves a higher average score in this metric.
Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) ranks highest in Indonesia, at 213th place.
Meanwhile, in terms of teaching capacity, the average score of Indonesia is ranked fourth in Asia.
This means that each class consists of only a few students and there is a high number of teaching staff for the learning process.
Three universities even made it into the top 100 in the world, led by Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) at 203rd place.
Indonesia's success in this year's ranking is driven by its outstanding performance in both QS reputation metrics based on the opinions of around 240,000 academics and employers.
Two universities in Indonesia are among the top 100 in the world for Employer Reputation, making it the most successful indicator for the country.
University of Indonesia and Airlangga University are ranked 91st and 95th, respectively.
Meanwhile, in terms of academic reputation assessment, no university in Indonesia is ranked among the top 100 in the world. Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is ranked 263rd in the world, the highest in Indonesia in terms of academic reputation.
