Sad Story of Bride-to-Be Who Cancelled Her Wedding, Proposed Like a Queen But Crushed Like Dust

The story actually went viral last August. In her story uploaded on TikTok @pearce12, a woman named Sukma poured her heart out about her future husband's and mother-in-law's behavior.

In the video, Sukma shares screenshots of conversations with her future mother-in-law. Because of that conversation, Sukma was truly disappointed because her wedding was cancelled even though they were already engaged.

"Spill chat that breaks your heart. Proposed like a queen but crushed like dust," Sukma writes, starting her sad wedding story.

In the video, there is evidence of Sukma's chat with her future mother-in-law on WhatsApp. At that time, Sukma was discussing the preparations for their engagement ceremony. Sukma wanted the engagement ceremony to include a ring exchange.

However, her future mother-in-law's response was completely unexpected. Sukma was accused of wanting to hold a luxurious wedding.

"Because what Sukma knows about an engagement is a ring exchange, aunt, that's why Sukma was confused," Sukma said.

The future mother-in-law replied by saying she wanted the engagement ceremony to be simple. She considered the engagement ceremony proposed by Sukma to be too extravagant.

But it didn't stop there. The future mother-in-law admitted that she didn't have the budget if the engagement ceremony included a ring exchange.

"Well, if you want to hold it like that, go ahead. If Sukma and Aji have prepared the rings. Just talk to Aji, because aunt doesn't have the money to buy them," the future mother-in-law said.

The future mother-in-law even allowed Sukma's family to cover the expenses themselves if the engagement included a ring exchange.

"If it's like this, it seems like it's going to be a big deal. It doesn't match what you and Sukma said before. If it's from Sukma's family, it's fine," replied the future mother-in-law.

Furthermore, the future mother-in-law stated that she didn't want to be burdened by various other events besides what had been agreed upon between her and Sukma. If there were any additional events, the future mother-in-law asked Sukma and her family to cover the costs.

"But if you have to prepare it again, it feels like giving up, preparing the thanksgiving ceremony and the preparations for the engagement day alone is already stressful," added the future mother-in-law.

Sukma was quite surprised by the response of her future mother-in-law. She quickly apologized and explained her intentions to avoid any misunderstandings. According to Sukma, she was only following the customary engagement ceremony that includes a ring exchange.

"Sukma didn't mean to make it a grand event, aunt. As far as Sukma knows, that's how an engagement is. I'm sorry if I made you upset, aunt," Sukma replied.

Sukma then narrated the complete chronology of her extremely sad wedding story, which ultimately led to the cancellation of the wedding due to the actions of her future mother-in-law and her fiancé's indecisiveness.

However, according to Sukma, if her future mother-in-law had agreed to the proposal of having an engagement ceremony with a ring exchange, then her family would have covered all the expenses.

"So it happened when I was discussing the plans for the engagement process with my future mother-in-law. I asked my future mother-in-law how she wanted the engagement ceremony to be and about the ring exchange during the engagement process.

"My intention in asking was not to demand a specific amount for the ring because the expenses for the engagement process were 100% covered by me. From the makeup artist, our matching outfits, decorations, and even the rings were all from me," Sukma explained.

She felt very disappointed with her future mother-in-law's reaction, who considered the engagement ceremony, which was in line with common customs, to be too extravagant. Yet almost all the expenses were covered by her family.

"Honestly, I was hurt reading the chat response from my future mother-in-law. I didn't ask for anything," she said.

Although there were differences regarding the engagement, the event was still held. Sukma's engagement took place in Cilegon, Banten on August 22, 2021.

After the successful engagement, Sukma and her fiancé then planned to hold the wedding after Eid al-Fitr 2022.

But Allah had other plans. Before the wedding day, around mid-March, Sukma was called by her future mother-in-law to ask her something.

Apparently, her future mother-in-law had already heard stories from her son about Sukma. The 25-year-old woman then gave a lengthy explanation to her future mother-in-law.

Sukma explained that she and Aji didn't have any serious problems. But Sukma felt that her fiancé didn't appreciate her enough. Sukma admitted that they had some distance between them, but her fiancé had no intention of fixing what had happened.

However, her fiancé denied this and immediately revealed things he didn't like about Sukma. Of course, Sukma felt cornered because there was no one to defend her at her future mother-in-law's house.

Sukma admitted that before going to his house, her fiancé had asked for a temporary break-up. She agreed to it when questioned by her future mother-in-law.

After explaining everything extensively, which ended with a temporary break-up for self-reflection, Sukma was taken home by her fiancé, but they didn't go all the way to her house as usual. Her fiancé refused to meet Sukma's parents.

Since then, Sukma's fiancé seemed to disappear and there was no news from him at all. Suddenly, her future mother-in-law contacted her and said hurtful words.

"That's enough, don't make my child your useless outlet for anger. I already know everything. If this continues, I'm afraid it will become slander between families," said Sukma's future mother-in-law.

After four days of no news from her fiancé, Sukma approached him and asked about their relationship. At that time, her fiancé said he wanted to end the relationship and didn't want to proceed to the wedding.
