"Dream - Shakira Clash of Champions (COC) suddenly became the talk of the town and trending topic on social media. This was triggered by Shakira's statement referring to 'autistic children' when reprimanding her friends who were busy doing live TikTok while they were gathered together. Shakira's statement received criticism and insults because the term 'autistic' should not be used as a mockery. Her actions were even associated with her status as a prospective doctor. Realizing her mistake with her statement, Shakira immediately issued an apology."
Shakira Almirah is a student of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (UI) class of 2020.
His figure is highlighted thanks to his achievements in the Clash of Champions competition held by the online learning platform.
However, Shakira is now facing a test after unintentionally using the phrase "autistic child" while reprimanding her friend who was busy live on TikTok.
"Can you guys socialize with me when you're in front of me? Stop socializing with your phones all the time. Are you with me 24/7? Don't be like an autistic child," said Shakira.
The unintentional statement that came out of Shakira's mouth made her colleagues, Maxwell, Axel, and Sandy, show shocked faces and immediately ended their live TikTok performance.
Apparently, the speech was also watched by TikTokers, which garnered a lot of criticism from netizens. Netizens believe that the use of that word is inappropriate.
Feeling that she has made a mistake, Shakira immediately provides clarification and openly expresses her apology.
"I am aware that using the word 'autistic' to refer to others is very wrong," wrote Shakira.
