After Being Criticized by Netizens, Food Vlogger Mgdalenaf Apologizes for Complaining about Not Being Treated by Restaurant Owner

Dream - Mgdalenaf finally appeared in public. The 29-year-old food vlogger clarified her complaint about food sellers who did not treat her despite showing her number of followers on social media.

"Hello everyone, I am Mgdalenaf and I humbly apologize for my statement in the podcast video with Samuel Christ," said Mgdalenaf, quoted from her Instagram, Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Mgdalenaf said that for the past eight years, she and her team have been working to help digitize micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Indonesia. She always visits MSMEs and reviews their food.

"Here, I want to explain the actual procedure of how me and my team create content that has been done all this time," she said.

Mgdalenaf also explained the procedure of working with her, from shooting permits to reviewing food without charging any fees.

Then, her team will showcase Mgdalenaf's portfolio, one of which is the number of followers.

"The team will show Mgdalenaf's portfolio. One of the instruments is the number of followers so that the business owner understands the benefits of digitization from Mgdalenaf's media," said Magdalena.

"And this stage is only for requesting shooting permits," she added.

After obtaining permission, Mgda and her team immediately create food review content. After eating and reviewing, she takes the initiative to pay for the food served during the review.

"Then after obtaining permission, me and my team will do a review without charging any fees. And of course, I always take the initiative to pay for the food that will be reviewed," she said.

Mgdalena said that the content she has created so far aims to help increase brand awareness and sales of MSMEs. She hopes that with this clarification, there will be no more misunderstandings.

"Hopefully, through this explanation, there will be no more misunderstandings. Once again, I apologize," said Magdalena.

Viral Video of Food Vlogger Mgdalenaf Complaining about Not Being Treated at a Restaurant, Showing Number of Followers

In a TikTok video reposted by the Twitter account @nagacentil, she said that she felt unappreciated when she went to a restaurant.

She recounted that when she went to a restaurant, she showed her number of followers on social media.

After informing the seller about her social media, the seller asked her.

"Yes, but this is a business, what will you give me?" Mgdalenaf repeated the words of the restaurant owner she visited.

Hearing the response from the restaurant owner, it turned out to be different from her expectations. Then, she wondered about the payment she would receive for reviewing the food.

"Then I thought, this is priceless (in my mind), if you were asked to pay me, how much would you pay?" said this female food vlogger.

She admitted that she is still often looked down upon and treated unpleasantly when she wants to review a food product.

"I often hear stories like that, being rejected when reviewing a restaurant, being ignored. I thought, why is there such a huge class difference for food vloggers here," she concluded.

This video then went viral on social media and received various responses from netizens who saw it.
