Desy Ratnasari is the child of H. Syaminan and Mulyanah. She spent her childhood and adolescence in her hometown, Sukabumi, West Java.

Previously, Desy Ratnasari was not as successful as she is now. She and her family lived in a modest narrow alley. Nevertheless, Desy was able to become a cover girl because of her beauty and intelligence.

Desy Ratnasari skyrocketed after singing a song titled "Tenda Biru" in 19997. The song successfully elevated her name to become a top artist in Indonesia. In fact, the song was in high demand at the time, selling up to 1 million copies.

After a successful career in the entertainment industry, Desy Ratnasari decided to enter the world of politics since 2013. She joined one of the parties, namely the National Mandate Party (PAN).

In 2014, Desy was elected as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the National Mandate Party. Her career continued in the 2019 General Elections, and she was re-elected as a member of the council until now.

Based on the LHKPN report for the 2022 period, Desy Ratnasari is recorded to have assets worth more than Rp11 billion. The assets consist of several assets, one of which is a luxury house that she currently occupies.
