Dream - Maudy Ayunda is very concerned about her body's health, especially her reproductive organs. Moreover, cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women.
Therefore, Maudy is very concerned about her health. She admitted that she has taken precautions by getting the HPV vaccination injection, which functions to protect the body from human papillomavirus (HPV) infections.
Vaccination is beneficial in preventing cancer in the genital area and reproductive organs, such as cervical cancer and penile cancer. Although Maudy has already been injected with the HPV vaccine, she feels that it is too late because she did not do it since childhood, but rather when she reached her twenties.
Maudy Ayunda's words in the #NgobrolinHPV Live! event: Night at the Library in Central Jakarta, not long ago.
Maudy just realized that she hadn't received the HPV vaccine when she was studying abroad, because she saw that her friends had already done it. "I was confused why I only found out about this issue when I was in school abroad, and all my female friends had been vaccinated. I felt left behind and finally got vaccinated when I was in my twenties," she said.
After knowing how important the HPV vaccine is, Maudy finally accepted the invitation to campaign for the importance of the HPV vaccine. She wants many Indonesian women to get information about HPV early on. "I myself feel that there should be someone who tells me that it is better to start the HPV vaccine at a certain age. So I want to help raise awareness about HPV, cervical cancer, and other diseases," she said.
In the same occasion, Director of Immunization Management at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Prima Yosephine, said that the government announced the National Action Plan for Cervical Cancer Elimination in 2023. Vaccination indeed becomes one of the steps to reduce diseases caused by HPV in Indonesia.
