Although the Regional Election Bill that triggered large-scale demonstrations has been canceled, Dasco assured that the revisions made by the Legislative Body of the House of Representatives together with the government yesterday will not just disappear. He opened the possibility that the revised regulations, which are pending approval in the Plenary Session, could be enacted and applied in the next Regional Election period."

"Dasco asks the public to believe that the revision of the Regional Election Law did not come suddenly. He stated that the Regional Election Bill has been discussed since January 2024. However, the process has indeed been slow, and the momentum for its ratification is close to the date of the regional head candidacy for the 2024 elections. "This revision of the law did not come out of nowhere; the revision of the Regional Election Law has been underway since January 2024, and it has indeed been progressing slowly," Dasco stated."

“Today, on this day, August 22 at 10:00 AM, after experiencing a 30-minute delay (still not a quorum), it was then decided that the revision of the Pilkada law cannot be implemented,” said Dasco. “This means that today the revision of the Pilkada law is canceled,” he concluded.
