Dream - Not only when having a bad dream, every Muslim is also encouraged to practice prayer when having a good dream. Prayer when having a good dream is practiced as a request for the good things that happen in the dream to happen in the real world.

Sleep is the body's way of restoring energy. However, the human body is in a weakened state during sleep. That is why Muslims are encouraged to recite prayers before sleep to seek protection from Allah SWT.

Prayer When Having Good Dreams

Prayer when having a good dream is essentially recited as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT. A good dream is part of Allah's blessings that should be thanked for. That is why when waking up from a good dream, recite the following tahmid prayer: الحمدُ للهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ Alhamdulillahi rabbil 'aalamiin. It means: "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."

"Prayer When Dreaming of Something Good"

Not only reciting the tahmid prayer, reciting prayers when dreaming of something good can also be practiced with the following prayer: الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي قَطَلَ الْحَاجَتِ Alhamdulillahil ladzii qothla haajaati. It means: "All praise be to Allah who has fulfilled my needs."

"Prayer for Beautiful Dreams:"

"Prayer for a Good Night's Sleep"

Before going to sleep, it is recommended to recite the following prayer to have a peaceful sleep and good dreams: "Nu'minu billahi natsiqu billahi naruddu umurana ilallahi wa hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil wa laa hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil 'aliyyil 'adzim." It means: "We believe in Allah, we trust in Allah, we surrender all our affairs to Allah, Allah is sufficient for us, He is the best helper, and there is no power or strength except with the help of Allah, the Most High and the Almighty."

Prayer Before Sleep Asking for Protection

When you are asleep, you may not be aware of everything that is happening. To avoid unwanted things, it is better to recite the following prayer: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ (Bismillahi laa yadlurru ma'asmihii syaiun fil ardli wa laa fis samaai wa huwas samii'ul 'aliim). Meaning: "In the name of Allah, who does not harm anything on earth or in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."

"Short Prayer Reading Before Sleep:"
The following is a short and easy-to-memorize bedtime prayer: "Allahumma bismika ahya wa amut."

"Prayer When Waking up from a Bad Dream"

He is Allah, my Lord, there is no partner for Him. I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger, the evil of His servants, and the whispers of Satan. I also seek refuge in Him from the presence of Satan. (Narrated by Ibn Suni, Abu Dawood, and Tirmidhi)
