The researchers in China discovered a rhino fossil estimated to be around 14 million years old.
"This discovery, which is the first in the region, is expected to provide new insights into the migration patterns of ancient rhinos and their distribution in various areas. This fossil, scientifically named Prosantorhinus yei sp. nov., was found in the Hui Autonomous Region of Ningxia. This fossil is a well-preserved adult skull, featuring thick and tall nasal bones that support small horns."
"The presence of fossils in the area indicates that this ancient rhinoceros had a wide distribution, ranging from Europe to southern Pakistan and China."
This finding has a significant impact on the understanding of the evolution and distribution of rhinoceros species in Asia.
