With a total of 18,000 active MSMEs, Mimika Regency has great potential to drive local economic growth. One concrete effort being made is providing training to MSME actors on how to market products through marketplaces. This training aims to equip MSME actors with digital skills to compete in the digital era."

Since its launch, the 'UKM Mimika' application has recorded transactions reaching tens of millions of rupiah. Ardi, one of the programmers of this application, said that purchase transactions and payment transfers can be made directly without involving a third party, thus eliminating the need for admin fees.

The UMKM production house will later become a large-scale production center equipped with various modern facilities. “For me as the regent of Mimika, first I really want to bring Mimika's UMKM to have a market, so we encourage assistance from all parties, especially the central government and the private sector, so that quality UMKM can be distributed between regions and even to the international arena,” he said. “With this production house, it is hoped that it can create superior products that can compete in both national and international markets,” he added.

"Johannes also initiated cooperation with several logistics companies, aimed at facilitating the distribution of Mimika's MSME products to various regions outside the island. This can enhance competitiveness and open broader business opportunities for MSMEs. "One of the efforts we are making is to establish cooperation with logistics companies to facilitate the distribution of our MSME products to other islands," he said. The Mimika government also facilitates MSME actors to participate in exhibitions across almost all of Indonesia and collaborates with investors."

"This certainly burdens the MSME actors, especially those producing goods with added value. The Mimika Regency government is also actively holding training and workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity of MSME actors. This includes business management, digital marketing, and improving production quality. The Mimika Regency government is also collaborating with various financial institutions to provide capital access for MSMEs. Not only that, Johannes also encourages the central government to pay attention to local MSMEs to reduce the prices of production raw materials or provide incentives to local raw material producers."

"On that occasion, Johannes gave a speech while introducing the MSMEs in Mimika Regency, which have now rapidly developed with sales that have utilized digital technology. Johannes also presented a souvenir to Yulius as the Deputy for Micro Business of the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs (KemenKopUKM). "We will enhance the role of these MSMEs in the economy, in GDP, and also (the quality of) the workforce, which we encourage further, as 90% of this," said Yulius."
