"Dream - Vice Presidential candidate number 3, Mahfud Md, admitted that he has packed his belongings to leave the official residence of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. He also plans to immediately relinquish state facilities after officially submitting his resignation letter to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). "I have also packed all my personal belongings and am ready to leave the official residence and relinquish all state facilities," said Mahfud in his official statement on Wednesday, January 31, 2024."
Mahfud revealed that his resignation is a commitment to maintain independence during the 2024 Presidential Election process. The decision to step down has also been planned since he was appointed as Ganjar Pranowo's running mate.

In addition, according to Mahfud, the decision has also been discussed by the Ganjar-Mahfud coalition party and the National Winning Team (TPN). After the joint discussion with the coalition party, it was concluded that stepping down from the state position is a wise step.
"This is considered an effort to restore the dignity of democracy carried out through a proper and honest process," Mahfud emphasized.
Mahfud hopes that this resignation can serve as a moral and intellectual guarantee for a fair and honest Presidential Election in 2024. "I am actively avoiding conflicts of interest and political interventions," he emphasized. The former Chief Justice has also met with the Minister of State Secretariat, Pratikno. From that meeting, Mahfud has been scheduled to directly meet with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who arrived in Jakarta on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Mahfud wants to meet directly with the president because he wants to resign in a good manner. Mahfud does not want to give the impression of 'running away from the ring'.
