"Achieving a wide 30% conservation area by 2045 has the potential to protect marine ecosystems covering 58 thousand hectares of seagrass meadows, 211 thousand hectares of mangroves, 1.2 million hectares of coral reefs, 30% of spawning areas, and store 188 million tons of CO2eq carbon, as well as protecting marine resource assets worth US$22 billion per year,""

"To realize this, said Firdaus, it is done by forming new conservation areas as well as opportunities to form Large-Scale Marine Protected Areas (LSMPAs)."

Firdaus conveyed, the marine ecosystem is very important in supporting local livelihoods and a strong national economy, especially in the fisheries and tourism sectors.

However, Indonesia faces several challenges. Among them are rising sea levels due to climate change, overfishing, coastal development, and marine pollution that threaten biodiversity and marine ecosystems, as well as endangering the income and welfare of coastal communities.
