Dream - Chairman of Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency), Rahmat Bagja, considers the statement "goblok" (meaning: stupid) uttered by presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, to be categorized as a criminal offense in the election and can be prosecuted. The criminal threat is stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 (Election Law), with a maximum penalty of 2 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp24 million.

"Regarding insults, yes? It can be prosecuted. If insulting, it can," said Bagja at the Constitutional Court (MK) Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, as quoted from merdeka.com. Article 280 paragraph (1) letter c of the Election Law regulates that the organizers, participants, and campaign teams of the election are prohibited from insulting someone, religion, ethnicity, race, group, candidate, and/or other election participants."

Although so, Bagja mentioned that Bawaslu has not received any reports regarding Prabowo's statement. Bawaslu, according to Bagja, will investigate if there are any incoming reports. "If there are reports, findings. Later, we will see first, what is the context, and who is the target. If there are sanctions, it must be firm, who is the target. The investigation must be firm, who is the target and that is an integral part," said Bagja.

"But, it must be checked first, if indeed the intention is like that, it will become a problem. Let's see first, yes, let's check first," he added.
