Dream - Who doesn't feel happy when receiving praise? Almost everyone will definitely feel happy when receiving praise. Where there is an advantage in ourselves that is known by others and they enjoy it. In fact, there are also those who not only give praise but also provide support for what we do. So, we become more enthusiastic. However, Dream's friends also need to be careful when receiving praise. Because praise can make someone feel great and eventually arrogant. This attitude is disliked by Allah SWT.
Therefore, when Dream's friend is praised, they should not forget to recite a prayer upon receiving praise. This will help us remember Allah SWT and keep us away from arrogance.
The following is a prayer when receiving praise and the attitude that a Muslim should adopt when being praised as summarized by Dream from various sources.
Prayer when Receiving Praise
When Dream's friend is praised, here is a prayer that you can practice as recited by Abu Bakr Ash Shiddiq when praised by others:
Allahumma anta a'lamu minni bi nafsiy, wa anaa a'lamu bi nafsii minhum. Allahummaj 'alniy khoirom mimmaa yazhunnuun, wagh-firliy maa laa ya'lamuun, wa laa tu-akhidzniy bimaa yaquuluun. Artinya: "O Allah, You know me better than I know myself, and I know myself better than they know me. O Allah, make me better than what they think of me, forgive me for what they do not know about me, and do not punish me for what they say." (Narrated by Al Baihaqi in Syu'abul Iman)
Attitude of a Muslim when Receiving Praise
The attitude of a Muslim when receiving praise should be based on the principles of humility and gratitude to Allah. Here are some recommended attitudes:
1. Say Alhamdulillah
Immediately say "Alhamdulillah" (All praise be to Allah) because all goodness and abundance that exist within ourselves are blessings from Allah SWT.
2. Not Arrogant
Preserving HTML tags, the translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' is as follows: "Keeping oneself from arrogance and pride. Praise should not make someone feel better than others."
3. Returning Praise to Allah SWT
Realizing that all goodness and excellence praised is by the permission of Allah. For example, by saying "This is all thanks to the grace of Allah."
4. Praying for the Giver of Praise.
Praying for goodness for those who praise. The Prophet Muhammad taught to say "Jazakallahu khairan" (May Allah reward you with goodness) to those who have given praise.
5. Requesting Protection from Slander
"Pray to Allah SWT to be protected from temptations and the devil's temptations that can mislead the heart because of such praise."
6. Self-Introspection
Using praise as a material for introspection to constantly improve oneself and strive to become even better, not just being satisfied with what has been achieved.
With these attitudes, a Muslim can keep their heart clean and unaffected by praise that can lead to arrogance and feeling superior to others.
