The moment when residents crossed Sungai Way Pemerihan to accompany the corpse was uploaded by the Instagram account @lampung.x on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

In the video, it can be seen that a number of people are trying to cross a fast-flowing river while carrying a corpse using used tires. The corpse, wrapped in a green cloth, is tied with a rope to prevent it from being carried away by the current.

Some people were seen swimming while pushing the corpse across the river to continue the journey towards the public cemetery. The river, with its strong current, is also deep and wide.

The Head of Pekon Pemerihan Village, Subantoro, confirms the viral incident. He conveyed that the local residents were forced to take extreme measures because there is no bridge connecting both sides of the river.

"Since the opening of Pekon Pemerihan until now, it has been very ironic that if there are people who die and happen to be flooded by the river, residents have to use rafts to cross the fast and large river water, because our cemetery is located across the river and happens to be on the land of TNBBS which used to be the location of the residents' settlement."
