Dream - Najis on dogs is already known by almost every Muslim. Even so, there are still differences in views from scholars regarding whether the entire body of a dog is considered najis or not. The great scholar Imam Shafi'i and one of the two narrations of Imam Ahmad have determined that the entire body of a dog is najis, including its fur. A different view is expressed by Imam Abu Hanifah and another opinion from Imam Ahmad, who believe that the parts of a dog that are considered najis are its saliva and fur.

Islamic law clearly states that dogs are forbidden to be eaten because they are considered as pets that are not suitable for consumption. In addition, Islamic law believes that there is a process of cleaning impurities caused by dogs that must be done to prevent contamination by the dog's impurity. The process of cleaning impurities caused by dogs is done by washing and cleaning the affected area seven times, including using water mixed with soil.

This is aimed at cleaning dog feces and neutralizing its impurity. In addition, there are differences of opinion among scholars regarding the ruling on touching dogs. Some scholars permit touching dogs as pets or for specific purposes. However, with certain conditions such as cleaning the body after touching a dog. However, other scholars prohibit touching dogs due to considerations of cleanliness and honor in the Islamic religion.

Madzhab Syafi'i and Hanbali agree that dog saliva is impure and must be cleaned, as explained in the book Ihkamul Ahkam Syarah 'Umdatul Ahkam. The health effects of dog saliva based on modern scientific reviews show that dog saliva contains various microorganisms, including bacteria and worms, which can cause diseases in humans.

Therefore, dog saliva must be cleaned seven times, because the cleaning process is considered to be able to eliminate germs and worms that are found in dog saliva. Thus, based on health studies and Islamic views, dog saliva is considered impure and has negative health effects on humans. Therefore, to maintain health, it is important to clean and avoid contact with dog saliva.

Based on the book of fiqh Kifayatul Akhyar and al Muhadzdzab, the procedure for purifying impurities from dogs or pigs is by washing the affected area seven times. One of the seven washes must be mixed with dust or soil. The use of other substances such as soap is not mentioned in the hadiths found in both books. However, if the situation requires it, it can be used to ensure that the affected area is truly clean.

In addition, the scholars have different opinions regarding the way to remove dog impurities. The first opinion states that dog impurities can be removed by mixing dog saliva with soil or sand and then drying it. The second opinion states that the way to remove dog impurities is by washing it seven times. One of the times includes using a mixture of dog saliva with soil or sand.

The third opinion states that the way to remove dog filth can be done by washing the filth seven times, without the need to mix it with dog saliva. In addition, scholars also state that ablution (wudhu) is not able to clean dog filth. Ablution can only clean minor impurities and cannot remove dog filth. Therefore, if someone is exposed to dog filth, they must clean it according to one of the opinions of the scholars mentioned above.
