During his stay in the cave, Guntur ate whatever he could. He earned money by selling water spinach in the deer park of Pendapa Kabupaten Jepara, selling pictures of Saridin, or selling children's toys made of bamboo. The Jepara City Police and the Social Empowerment and Village Community Development Agency (Dinsospermades) then offered Guntur and his child to stay in a social shelter. However, he rejected the offer.

"Guntur is indeed living alone. He has been separated from his wife since a few years ago. Even his siblings in his hometown are already married. Therefore, he hesitates to live as a guest in their house with his child. Before living in a cave, Guntur and his child used to stay with some people. However, according to him, those people did not feel comfortable with his hyperactive child's activities."

"If later offered a place by someone, I am afraid it will happen again," he said. However, despite that, Guntur has a goal of deepening his religious knowledge. He is currently collecting money to be able to meet Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf in Solo. Guntur admitted that he has attended Habib Syech's selawat assembly several times in various places. "Habib Syech is a good person. I want to study there," he said."
