West Java Police Uncover Corruption in Healthcare Workers' Incentives in Sukabumi for Covid-19 Amounting to Rp5.4 Billion
"In the fiscal years 2020 and 2021, the West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) successfully uncovered a corruption case related to incentive funds for healthcare workers (Nakes) assigned to handle Covid-19 at the Palabuhanratu Regional Hospital, Sukabumi Regency."
"The results of the audit of the financial loss to the state from BPKP representative of West Java Province indicate a state loss of Rp5,400,550,763,"
"The Head of Public Relations of West Java Police, Kombes Pol Ibrahim Tompo, said during an interview with reporters, Thursday (28/12)."
In this incident, a suspect known by the initials HC has been successfully identified by the police. The individual is a government employee with a work contract, who previously served as the head of the Covid-19 room at UPTD RSUD Palabuhanratu. The handling of this case is based on a police report from Polda Jabar with the number: LPA/361/VI/2022/SPKT.
The suspect used a method by creating false data when applying for incentive funds for healthcare workers handling Covid-19.
"After that, he made a report of accountability that was also incorrect."
"The incident was carried out by the suspect HC by submitting the names of healthcare workers who did not handle Covid-19 patients as a favor, to obtain incentive money," he explained.
"The money received by health workers is collected, and part of that amount is used for cash expenses in the Covid-19 room."
"Distributed to healthcare and non-healthcare personnel at the UPTD RSUD Palabuhanratu Sukabumi District as well as for personal interests, thus not in accordance with regulations," he added."
As a result of his actions, HC faces the threat of a life imprisonment sentence or a minimum of four years and a maximum of 20 years, as well as fines ranging from Rp200 million to Rp1 billion.
