Installation of Bali Artists Ready to Welcome G20 Summit Participants

Dream - Various art installations by Balinese artists decorate various points at Ngurah Rai International Airport, welcoming guests of the G20 High-Level Conference from November 15 to 16, 2022. These art installations tell stories about life in Bali.

The presence of these art installations is a showcase of Indonesia's cultural diversity and an effective promotional tool. This allows heads of state, ministers, and other delegation members to have a deeper understanding of the country.

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, appreciates these art installations, which are part of the beautification program of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by PT. Angkasa Pura 1.

"The readiness of the airport is very important to create a first impression for the delegates, so that they can experience the hospitality that is one of Indonesia's strengths," said Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

A Series of Artworks from Indonesian Artists

One of the art installations that will be presented is "Paradise Scape" by I Wayan Upadana, a multimedia artist from Gianyar, Bali. This installation combines various media such as resin, video, LED screens, and symbolizes beauty and harmony.

This artwork conveys the ability of humans to embrace the environment and assimilate with the uniqueness found in others, whether it's individual characteristics or culture.

This series of artworks serves as a reminder of the artistic talent that exists in daily life, where humans are a combination of their inner personality and the external environment.

Not far from the location of the "Paradise Scape" art installation, there is "Wana Rupa Segara Gunung" by Kadek Dwi Armika. This art installation by the artist, born in 1979, is located on the upper wall of one corner of the international arrival terminal at Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Deep Meaning

"Wana Rupa Segara Gunung" depicts the sketches of the traditional cultural environment of Bali, which encompasses the underwater world ("segara"), coastal cultural traditions, and the mountains. It represents the harmonious relationship between humans and society, between humans and nature and the environment, and between humans and God.

Another art installation in this series is "Palemahan" by Raka Bernat, an artist from Gianyar. This artwork uses wood, rattan, bamboo, and lontar leaves, spread across three points in the international arrival area of Ngurah Rai International Airport.

This artwork is inspired by Tri Hita Karana, which centers around Palemahan as the most important aspect of life, inviting visitors to explore a 3D mapping that reveals the world of the sea (Segara), land (Pertiwi), and sky (Akasa).

Other art installations include "Nawa Dewata" by the innovative design studio Atelier Seni, "Konstruksi Semesta" by Made Wiguna Valasara, and "Mataya Gate" by Yoka Sara.

A Significant Moment to be Preserved

In addition to the art installations in the arrival and international departure terminals of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, PT.Angkasa Pura I also revitalized and beautified other areas. Namely the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and the Existing VVIP Building.

"So that the delegates, especially the heads of state participating in the G20 Summit, can experience Indonesian hospitality upon their arrival at the airport," said Sandiaga.

He also emphasized that the G20 Presidency of Indonesia is a significant momentum that must be maintained in the joint efforts to revive the tourism and creative economy sectors of the country.

Active involvement from all elements of society, as well as tourism and creative economy stakeholders and other relevant parties, must be ensured to ensure that the G20 Presidency of Indonesia truly has a broad impact, particularly in driving economic recovery and job creation.

"The implementation of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia will bring a very positive image of Indonesia. That Indonesia, as a country that has been greatly affected by Covid-19, is able to rise and prove itself capable of hosting world events. The G20 Presidency of Indonesia will also showcase the diverse cultural heritage of Indonesia," said Sandiaga.

"Therefore, it is expected that the world's trust in Indonesia will increase, further solidifying Indonesia's position as a high-quality and sustainable world-class destination," he concluded.

20 Selected SMEs as Official Suppliers of G20 Summit Souvenirs

Dream - The G20 Summit in Bali will take place on November 15-16, 2022. In this grand event, there will be around 20 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) selected as official suppliers of G20 Summit souvenirs.

Among the selected MSMEs are the result of curation from 1,024 MSMEs conducted by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in collaboration with Smesco, covering various sectors such as crafts (creative economy), fashion, food, cosmetics, and wellness.

Unique Wedding Souvenirs, Guests Receive Betta Fish Souvenirs

One of the selected MSME brands is Ethneeq from PT Lima Menara Sejahtera, which produces the Garjita Mini Purse as the official merchandise of the G20 Summit.

"Using jute fabric combined with Balinese endek fabric, Garjita is very elegant. The combination has an interesting story that results in an elegant product, Garjita," said Nadia Aqmarina, Co-Founder of EthneeQ, through Kemanparekraf.go.id.

Various Products from SMEs

As information, EthneeQ started its business activities in late 2019, initially selling products based on customer orders. In January 2020, EthneeQ launched its first product, 'Akusara,' which is a bag made of jute fabric with ornamental carvings on the leather material.

In addition to EthneeQ, Faber Instrument Indonesia also passed the curation process. This West Java-based official supplier offers wooden radios with Indonesian nuances.

Faber Instrument Indonesia is an MSME that processes wood waste and started its production in 2013. Their first products were acoustic guitars and cajons. This MSME is well-known for its vintage and contemporary wooden radios.

"I offer 15 radio designs, but Smesco curated them into four models that are the same as our best sellers," said Helmi Suana Permanahadi, Founder and CEO of Faber Instrument Indonesia.

The four wooden radio products are Gede Pangrango, Wijaya Kusuma, Joglo, and Cipanas.

Representing Each City's Characteristics

The choice of the name 'Faber Instrument Indonesia' reflects Helmi's concern about the declining state of the creative economy in his hometown, Cianjur. Through the name of his product, Helmi hopes to promote the tourism potential in Cianjur Regency.

"People are prouder of neighboring cities like Bogor, Sukabumi, and Bandung. However, there are many potentials in Cianjur. That's why I'm here to build an ecosystem and innovation," said Helmi.

During the G20 selection process, Helmi is optimistic about passing the curation. In the Ina Craft 2020 event, President Joko Widodo informed West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil that wooden radios are suitable as G20 souvenirs.
