Not a Courier, Sending Packages at IKN Will Use Drones

Dream - Package or goods delivery in the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN), East Kalimantan, will implement a smart logistics system, using drone technology. In addition to drones, the smart logistics system also applies other technologies, such as smart labels, Internet of Things system in logistics, AI (Artificial Intelligence) enhanced supply chain analytics, and logistic tracking system technology.

"Not Using Courier Services"

The Director of Green Transformation of the National Capital Authority (OIKN), Agus Gunawan, said that the delivery of goods to consumers in IKN no longer uses motorcycle courier services.

"If now in marketplaces, e-commerce, or online sellers in cities, they may use motorcycle couriers to deliver goods or orders to consumers, but in the future at IKN, it will be drones that deliver shipments to us."

Based on Presidential Regulation No. 63/2022 regarding the Details of the Master Plan for the Archipelago Capital, the Archipelago Capital can assist in the implementation of innovative logistics or transportation strategies.

One of them is promoting environmentally friendly logistics solutions and adopting new technologies that support long-distance delivery innovations such as drones and automatic vehicles (AV).

Efficient logistics system is considered to have minimal impact on city traffic and improve safety from transportation aspects.

This is in line with the future logistics strategy in managing cargo and goods movement throughout the IKN region in ways that reduce conflicts with passenger transportation, increase space utilization, and generate commercial profits.

As information, the basic principle of developing the IKN Area combines three urban concepts, namely IKN as a forest city, sponge city, and smart city.

The concept of a smart city has been considered as a comprehensive element in affirming the development of IKN Nusantara as the new dynamic and inclusive capital city of Indonesia, supported by the community, and ready to face the future.
