Dream - Google has carried out layoffs (PHK) against hundreds of its employees at the beginning of 2024. One of them is Kevin Bourrillion, who has been dedicated to this American company for 19 years.

"The end of an era! After working at Google for 19 years, with over 16 years on the team I founded, I made a difficult decision yesterday morning to finally bite the bullet and find out that I have been laid off overnight," wrote Bourrillion on his social media account, as quoted from NDTV, Monday, January 15, 2024."

Although acknowledging the challenges of experiencing layoffs, Bourrillion sees the termination as a positive thing. "Layoffs can be annoying, but in my case... it's okay, because I have long needed a change in my life. And I don't have any plans to rush into something else at the moment," he said.

On the contrary, Bourrillion highlights his desire to explore new activities, such as cycling, reading, restarting drum lessons, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. "No sympathy expression is needed in my case! And with that, I will figure out how to live my life!" he said.

"Throughout the second half of 2023, a number of our teams made changes to become more efficient and work better, as well as aligning their resources with their biggest product priorities. Some teams continue to make such organizational changes, which include several global role eliminations," said a Google spokesperson.
