Dream - The government has revised the regulations on bringing goods from abroad. The Ministry of Trade officially revokes the restrictions on goods from overseas specifically for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) as regulated in Permendag 36 Year 2023 concerning Import Policies and Regulations.
The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the regulations on the restriction of PMI's personal belongings are returned to Permendag 25 Year 2022 regarding Amendments to the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 20 Year 2021 on Import Policies and Regulations.

Selain itu, pemerintah juga tidak membatasi jenis maupun jumlah barang asal luar negeri bawaan PMI. Hanya saja nilai maksimal barang bawaan masing-masing PMI ditetapkan maksimal US$1.500 per tahun.
"Nilai saja. tapi itu PMI, kalau orang belanja nggak diatur, terserah," bebernya.
In addition, the government also does not restrict the type or quantity of goods brought in from abroad by PMI. However, the maximum value of each PMI's personal belongings is set at a maximum of US$1,500 per year.
"It's just a value. but that's for PMI, if people go shopping, it's not regulated, it's up to them," he explained.
Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), Benny Rhamdani, mentioned that in the future, the personal belongings of foreign migrant workers will not be destroyed by the Customs and Excise Department or returned to their home country.
This considers the hard work of the Indonesian Red Cross in raising funds to purchase imported goods.

With this, PMI only needs to pay import excess tax if it exceeds the value limit set by the government.
