Dream - Many people often feel less confident. However, with self-confidence, a person can create positive things for themselves. This usually happens because of past experiences where a person received low judgments from others.

“The problem is indeed self-confidence, globally women are built to lack self-confidence. So I learned and many advocate for self-confidence,” said Miriam Veronica, Textile Designer and Global Women in Management (GWIM) Alumni, at the Learning the Art of Leadership event with GWIM Network at @america Pasific Place, Friday, May 5, 2023.

However, when Sahabat Dream believes in their abilities, it will be easier to do something new and achieve personal and professional success.

Here are a series of tips for building self-confidence.

Believe in Yourself First

The first thing to do to appear self-confident is to believe that we are capable of doing many things. Affirm through writing or words that can make us more confident.

“Because many people sometimes doubt their choices, I try to have confidence in my capabilities and potential. Believing in yourself should be the number one priority,” said Farwiza Farhan, an environmental activist who has received awards from National Geographic Wayfinder 2022 on the same occasion.

Change the Stigma

Many people say that women don't need to go to high school or can't become leaders. Whereas everyone should be able to do the same, whether male or female.

“Many people label women as unable to become leaders. So they should only be in the kitchen or take care of children. We can be more than that, and we can be leaders,” said Happy Harefa, a member of the Gunung Sitoli City Election Commission and GWIM Alumni, on the same occasion.

Join Communities and Programs that Build

To support women, Global Women in Management (GWIM) is present as a platform to train self-confidence and leadership. In Indonesia, more than 50 GWIM alumni have worked to support opportunities in improving economic progress for women in their families and communities. They are successful women leaders in the fields of environment, business, and politics.

“Through activation and preservation programs to promote the theme of Learning the Art of Leadership, this event aims to increase awareness of future GWIM candidates and the community by sharing success stories from GWIM alumni in Indonesia as tangible results after participating in GWIM training programs,”  said Carole Gall, President of Exxonmobil Indonesia, on the same occasion.
