Trash from Beauty Products Recycled into Prosthetic Legs

The beauty industry is also following suit. Many beauty brands are paying great attention to the management of product packaging waste. This is to prevent beauty product waste from continuously polluting the environment.

One brand that implements this environmentally friendly concept is The Body Shop. Through the Bring Back Our Bottles (BBOB) campaign, The Body Shop invites the public to return plastic packaging waste.

"In this Ramadan moment, we want to actively involve the public in returning empty packaging to our stores because through the BBOB campaign, the plastic packaging will be recycled," explained Ridha Ichsani, PR & Advocacy Manager of The Body Shop Indonesia at the virtual event The Body Shop Celebrate This Moment some time ago.

Recycled into Prosthetic Legs

The collected plastic waste will be recycled into prosthetic legs for people with disabilities in collaboration with impact partners WeCare.id and Yayasan Kaki Kita Sukasada.

"From empty packaging, we can all share goodness by providing prosthetic legs to those in need. The prosthetic legs are made from recycled plastic materials such as PP, LDPE, and HDPE, which have a flexible texture that is suitable for producing prosthetic legs," said Dita Agustia, Corporate Values Manager of The Body Shop Indonesia.

In addition to preserving the environment by collecting used plastic waste from beauty products, transforming plastic packaging into prosthetic legs is also a step towards sharing goodness that results in a thousand steps of happiness for those in need.

Repairing the Skin Barrier with Natural Skincare

Dream - The skin barrier is the outermost layer of the skin that must always be maintained for a glowing and healthy appearance. This part of the skin has a vital function as it protects the body from exposure to ultraviolet rays, pollution, toxins, and pathogens that are harmful.

If the skin barrier is damaged, the water in the skin will easily evaporate and make the skin dry. Not only that, bacteria and germs will also enter more easily and are prone to causing acne.

Conditions like this can be triggered by daily habits, such as improper face washing and using facial soaps, not using moisturizers, or using beauty products that are not suitable for your skin type.

"Maintaining the skin's resilience and keeping it free from stress makes our skin healthier, smoother, and more supple. Products with antioxidant content can also reduce the oxidation process in the skin," added Dr. Arini.

Choosing the Right Skincare

The first thing to do to repair a damaged skin barrier is to start using the right facial skincare. This effort can be started with simple skincare routines such as using skincare products.

"The choice of skincare should be based on the individual's skin problems and skin type. For example, if someone is still experiencing acne at the age of 20, they should focus on treating the acne first because it will be more difficult to treat scars later on," added Dr. Arini.

Plant-Based Skincare
