KAWFEST 2024 itself is a part of the UMKM Bazaar for Indonesia, which is held to support the development and expansion of UMKM markets in Indonesia. This year, KAWFEST 2024 will take place for four days starting from Thursday, April 25th to Sunday, April 28th, 2024 at Sarinah Thamrin, Jakarta.

Carrying the theme of wastra, another name for traditional Indonesian fabric, for the first time, KAWFEST 2024 is held as a form of contribution from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and state-owned enterprises in preserving traditional Indonesian fabric. This event is also expected to help market the works of the nation's children both in Indonesia and the international market. As an event that promotes traditional fabrics of the homeland, KAWFEST 2024 also presents programs such as Bazaar: Wastra Market, Fashion Show: Wastra Trunk Show, Talkshow: Bincang Wastra, and Designer Competition: School Fashion Design Competition.

Financial and SME Development Expert of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Loto Srinaita Ginting, said that the implementation of Kawfest aims to support the development of the creative fashion industry, increase the love of the community, especially the younger generation, for traditional Indonesian fashion. KAWFEST 2024 is also expected to support the regeneration of traditional Indonesian fashion designers and expand the market for traditional Indonesian fashion, including traditional Indonesian fabrics created by BUMN-supported artisans.

As part of the Kawfest 2024 series, there will be a School Fashion Design Competition participated by fashion schools including Burgo Indonesia, ISWI Fashion Academy, Islamic Fashion Institute, LaSalle College Jakarta, Jakarta Institute of Arts (IKJ), ESMOD Jakarta, Maranatha Christian University, Telkom University, LPTB Susan Budihardjo, and Binus University. The Kawfest 2024 series will be joined by a total of 64 participants from 10 fashion schools in the School Fashion Design Competition.
