Even one of the mothers, identified as D, initially did not want to undergo a DNA test because she was not mentally ready. Now, after all the twists and turns behind the swapped babies have been revealed, in the next month, the swapped baby will be reunited with their actual family.

Like a Soap Opera Story, Babies Swapped in Bogor After Being Born at the Hospital, Discovered After a Year of Care

Dream - A married couple, Siti Mauliah (37) and Muhamad Tabrani (52), were confused when they found out that their baby had been swapped after giving birth at Sentosa Hospital in Kemang District, Bogor Regency, one year ago.

Siti Mauliah gave birth through a caesarean section on July 18, 2022. According to her, as a procedure, the newborn baby stayed in a special room for one day and one night, and was only given to the parents the next morning.

"I breastfed and saw my baby all day, but the next day, it changed to another baby with different thick hair," said Siti, quoted from Merdeka.com, Friday, August 11, 2023.

Siti's suspicion grew stronger after a nurse from the hospital where she gave birth visited her house.

"I started to suspect when a nurse came to my house, asking for the baby's bracelet with the reason of a visit from the Jhonson side," said Siti.

Siti said that actually, from the beginning, the hospital could have provided information about the incident, but there was no information at all.

"Why didn't they be honest about the procedural mistake, and they were not honest from the beginning. It was only discovered after we returned home," said Siti.

Explanation from the Hospital

Meanwhile, the President Commissioner of PT Pelita Medika Sentosa and owner of Sentosa Hospital, Frits M. Rumintjap, revealed that they are still checking the news about the swapped baby. This is because the incident happened more than a year ago.

"We haven't investigated it yet because this incident happened more than a year ago," he said.

He added that the hospital had received a report regarding the alleged swapped baby and immediately facilitated it, but in the middle of the process, they faced difficulties because the two families were not cooperating.

"And we don't know the progress so far, it seems like one side has done (the DNA test) but I'm not sure and I don't have the exact information, I will ask the management directly later," he said.

Siti's lawyer, Rusdy Ridho, stated that they have already had a meeting with the hospital. They even requested a DNA test for their client's child.

"After 10 days and both families gathered, the DNA test results showed that sample A and B are negative or not the biological child of patient A (Siti)," said Rusdy.

As the legal representative, Rusdy tried to hold the hospital accountable and find the actual child.

"The suspect from the hospital admitted that there was a mix-up with the bracelet that was given to patient B, but patient B did not want to undergo a DNA test, so we, as the legal representative, took legal action by filing a report to the PPA unit of the Bogor Police," he concluded.
