Fact Check: Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train Accident Not Allowed to Be Aired on TV

Dream - A video showing a train accident is circulating on social media Twitter. In the narration, it is said that the video is of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train accident.

In the two-minute video, a train can be seen speeding and derailing from the track while turning left.

Here is the narration of the video:

"This news is VIRAL and not allowed to be shown on television, because it is very embarrassing for the ignorant regime. *JAKARTA-BANDUNG HIGH-SPEED TRAIN TEST DERAILS AND INJURES WORKERS*

But online media cannot be stopped. In the end, people trust social media more."

After conducting a search, the train accident video in the first 10 seconds is an accident that occurred in Spain in 2013.

A similar video was uploaded on Youtube ABC News titled "Spain Train Derailment Video 2013: Shocking Crash Kills At Least 77, Caught on Tape," on July 25, 2013.

According to merdeka.com fact check, the accident caused 77 deaths in the accident that occurred in northwest Spain.

Then, the video featuring Rocky Gerung, is the same as the one uploaded on the YouTube account Rocky Gerung Official titled "Kecelakaan di Proyek KA Cepat China. Ada yang Coba Ditutup-tutupi?."

Rocky said that the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train accident was being covered up by the government.

For information, the technical train of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project (KCJB) derailed in the area of Cempaka Mekar Village, Padalarang, West Bandung Regency. The accident occurred on Sunday, December 19, 2022, around 5:00 PM WIB.

"The working train operated by the contractor Sinohydro derailed. The working train consists of a diesel locomotive and a rail installation machine. So here, the train that derailed is the working train, not the high-speed train set," said the President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi.

The number of victims in the accident is six people, all of them Chinese nationals. Two of them were reported dead.

"Based on the updated report from the hospital, this incident resulted in six casualties. Two died, two are in serious or critical condition, and two have minor injuries. They are all technicians from the contractor Sinohydro and Chinese nationals," he said.

The claim that the train accident video is of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train is incorrect. In fact, the incident is a train accident in Spain in 2013.
