Formerly a Milk Shop, This is Lawson's Journey 'Odeng' Can Enter Indonesia

One of these foreign retailers is a Japanese store called Lawson, which is known to the public for its distinctive blue color.

Lawson is known as a store that provides a variety of Japanese ready-to-eat food and beverage products that fill its shelves. Menu items such as onigiri, bento rice, and coffee are provided by Lawson store managers for their customers.

One of the well-known products from Lawson store is the original product called odeng.

Lawson itself is the second largest convenience store chain in Japan after 7-Eleven. Initially, Lawson was a milk shop founded by J.J. Lawson in the United States.

As a tribute to its founder, the company's logo is in the form of a milk can, which serves as a reminder that this retail store was born from a milk shop.

According to Wikipedia, Lawson was acquired by Dairy Mart, a Japanese company. The first Lawson store in the Land of Sakura was established in 1975. The company later changed its name to Daiei Lawson Co., Ltd.

In 1997, Daiei Lawson decided to change its name to Lawson and opened its first store in Okinawa. Lawson's headquarters is currently located in Osaki, Shinagawa, Tokyo.

In May 2011, Lawson opened its 10,000th store in Japan, and by March 2013, Lawson had a total of 11,174 stores in the Land of Sakura.

The first Lawson store outside of Japan was opened in Shanghai, China in July 1996. In Indonesia, Lawson signed a licensing agreement with PT. Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk from the Alfa Group on June 20, 2011.

For your information, Midi Utama Indonesia is the owner of the Alfamidi and Alfaexpress mini market brands. The first Lawson store in Indonesia was opened in Kemang, South Jakarta in July 2011.

Lawson also returned to its home country, the United States, after the opening of the first Lawson Station store in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 7, 2012.
