No Apology, Chairman of Ambon DPRD Speaks Out After His Son Beats Teenager to Death for Not Asking Permission

Dream - A student in Ambon, identified as RRS (15), was killed after being beaten by AT alias Abdi (25), the son of the Chairman of Ambon DPRD, on Sunday night, July 30, 2023.

AT hit RRS's head three times in the area of Tanah Lapang Kecil (Talake), Nusaniwe District, Ambon City, precisely in front of Bripka Alamsyah Bakker's house in the Asrama Polri Talake area.

This incident started when the victim and witness MFS (16) were riding a motorcycle from Ponegoro to their relatives' house in Talake to return a jacket.

Chronology

When they entered the gate of Masjid Talake alley, he and RRS passed by AT and almost bumped into him.

Then MFS glanced back and saw AT walking after them.

After they arrived in front of their relative's house, RRS was still wearing a helmet and sitting on the motorcycle, while MFS had already gotten off the motorcycle.

AT immediately approached them and without asking, directly hit RRS on the head, who was still wearing a helmet, once.

"When you enter someone else's complex, you should ask for permission," AT said to RRS.

RRS's family, who knew about the incident, immediately came out of the house and reprimanded AT.

AT, who was then enraged, immediately responded loudly. Waving his hand towards RRS's family, AT stated that he was ready to take responsibility.

"I take responsibility for everything," said the perpetrator.

As a result of the beating, RRS fainted and was taken to Doctor Leimena Hospital. However, RRS's life could not be saved.

Victim Identified as Suspect

Meanwhile, Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif stated that the perpetrator has been identified as a suspect and is detained at the Ambon City Police. Meanwhile, the victim has been autopsied at Bhayangkara Hospital Ambon.

Lotharia urged the public to remain calm and not engage in any unwanted actions as the case is being handled with a focus on justice.

Response from Perpetrator's Parents

The parents of AT, Chairman of Ambon City DPRD, Elly Toisuta, expressed their concern and condolences for the death of RRS due to their son's assault.

"On behalf of our family, with utmost humility and always relying on Allah SWT, we express our deepest condolences for the death of Ananda Rafi Rahman," said Elly.

"May Allah SWT bestow His mercy upon the deceased and grant him the most beautiful place in the sight of Allah, Amen ya robbal alamin," she continued, in a video uploaded on the Instagram account @terangmedia.

However, there was no apology from Elly to RRS's family. The Golkar politician only handed over the handling of the legal process to the police.

"We respect and entrust the handling of this process and case to the law enforcement authorities," she said.
