It is narrated that one day after Prophet Muhammad saw experienced Isra Mi'raj, he sat alone in Masjidil Haram contemplating what he had just experienced. Suddenly, Abu Jahal passed by and saw and approached Prophet Muhammad saw. His arrival turned out to mock him.

"Is there no more revelation that came to you last night?"

At that time, the Prophet raised his face and looked towards Abu Jahal.

"Indeed, I was isra-ed to Baitul Maqdis in Syria last night." the Prophet explained.

"And now you are among us again?" Abu Jahal asked, still mocking.

"Yes." the Prophet answered.

Abu Jahal's treatment to mock the Prophet became more intense. He even shouted at the people around him.

"Hey, Bani Kaab bin Luai! Come here."

People gathered and Abu Jahal told them what he had just heard from Prophet Muhammad saw. Yes, the purpose of Abu Jahal was still to mock the Prophet in front of the people who were followers of the Prophet so that later the followers of the Prophet would leave him.

"Is it true that you were isra-ed last night, O Messenger of Allah?"

"Yes. And there I performed prayers with the prophets." the Prophet answered.

People said that the journey from Mecca to Syria continuously took a month for a round trip. So it was impossible for Prophet Muhammad saw to go back and forth to Mecca in just one night.

In that condition, many Muslims finally decided to apostatize or leave the Islamic religion and some were doubtful. In the end, those people went to Abu Bakr, a companion of Prophet Muhammad saw, to seek the truth about the words of Prophet Muhammad.

Abu Bakr's Belief in Prophet Muhammad saw

"The idol worshippers came to Abu Bakr and said, 'What is your opinion about your companion? He said that he was taken to Baitul Maqdis last night.'"

"He also informed them about their trade caravan during its departure and return, and about a lost camel belonging to them. After the caravan arrived, what he conveyed was in accordance with the actual conditions."
