Worse than Lampung, This Country's Damaged Road is Only Covered by Carpet Coated with Asphalt

Damaged roads are certainly not only happening in Lampung. Since the President opened access for the public to report infrastructure conditions through comments on Instagram, similar conditions have been experienced by residents in other areas.

Infrastructure problems are not exclusive to Indonesia. Several countries also experience them.

Government actions to repair damaged roads are also carried out by many governments in other countries. However, what the authorities in this country did made its citizens furious.

The long stretch of damaged roads in Lampung is also experienced in Maharashtra, India.

According to Oddity Central, the villagers in the Jalna district of Maharashtra have long been asking the government to repair their roads that are no longer passable.

After a long process, their request was finally granted a few months ago. The community was happy that their roads were finally smooth and passable for vehicles.

However, the happiness only lasted for a while. The community was angry to find out that the newly constructed asphalt was actually just a thin layer of carpet coated with asphalt.

The company responsible for the project did a sloppy job that caused significant losses.

They intentionally placed a thin layer of asphalt on a canvas like a carpet that can easily be lifted from the ground.

A video circulating on Twitter shows the community protesting by removing the layer of carpet to show that the 'road is fake'. They criticized the company responsible for the project.

A poorly constructed road was built as part of the Prime Minister's Rural Road Scheme.

After the incident went viral, the company working on the project claimed to have used the latest German technology to build the road.

However, the local residents did not believe and demanded accountability from the contractor, road engineers, and relevant departments for their dishonesty. The road they built clearly will not last long.
