Dream - Giving breast milk (ASI) to babies is highly recommended because it has a significant impact on their growth and development. In some situations, mothers may not be able to breastfeed directly, one of which is when they experience baby blues, which is when their emotional condition is unstable. In such conditions, according to child and adolescent clinical psychologist, Vera Itabiliana, M.Psi, it is advisable for mothers to continue giving exclusive breastfeeding to their babies. For example, when they are unable to breastfeed directly, they can give it through a bottle or other tools.
Vera explained that baby blues is a temporary condition that usually lasts from a few days to two weeks after childbirth.
"Baby blues can be experienced by a mother for several days up to two weeks. So, mothers do not need to keep a distance from their children outside of breastfeeding time, "said Vera, quoted from Liputan6.com."
Baby blues is experienced by about 80 percent of women who have just given birth. The symptoms begin to appear one to five days after delivery and can subside within 10 days. During this period, mothers may experience various negative emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety, and fatigue.
"Continuing to Provide Breast Milk"
Although many mothers feel tired and easily irritable, Vera suggests that mothers continue to strive to provide breastfeeding. Usually, sufferers of baby blues can still carry out daily activities such as exclusive breastfeeding and taking good care of the baby. To prevent the condition of baby blues from worsening and interfering with the breastfeeding process, Vera suggests that mothers continue to consume nutritious and regular meals to maintain energy and well-being. For example, by drinking plenty of water or high-calcium milk.
"Leave the House to Improve Your Mood"
Mother who feels stressed due to baby blues is advised to go outside the house to improve mood. Vera also suggests that the mother seek help from her husband, parents, in-laws, and close friends or community to find peace and social support. According to Vera, new mothers need plenty of rest both during the day and at night, as well as engaging in activities to adapt to their new role.
"Active Husband"
Vera also emphasizes the importance of the husband's role in supporting mothers experiencing baby blues. Husbands can help by sharing baby care tasks as a strong form of emotional support for the mother. When the mother feels tired, the husband can listen to her stories and provide encouragement without judging or evaluating her condition. Household chores should be delegated to a house assistant or someone who can help so that the mother can focus on consuming nutritious food, me time, and breastfeeding the child. Keep up the spirit, Moms! Source: Liputan6.com.
