Ferry Irawan Officially Detained for Domestic Violence Case Against Venna Melinda

Dream - After undergoing a six-hour examination at the East Java Regional Police, Ferry Irawan, who was previously a suspect in the domestic violence case against Venna Melinda, has been officially detained.

"Tonight the investigator has decided to detain FI (Ferry Irawan)," said the Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Dirmanto, as quoted from liputan6.com, Monday, January 16, 2023.

According to Dirmanto, before being detained, Ferry Irawan had his health checked by the medical team of the East Java Regional Police.

The medical team declared that Ferry Irawan's health is good enough to be detained.

"After being examined by the doctor, then fingerprint examination has been conducted. Ensuring that the person is healthy. That's why we did the identification," said Dirmanto.

Previously, Ferry Irawan expressed his desire not to be detained before undergoing examination. However, the investigators eventually detained Ferry Irawan.

"As stated in Article 21 of the Criminal Code, there is an objective requirement for investigators to detain. Moreover, the suspect is facing a 5-year sentence," said Dirmanto.

As a Suspect of Domestic Violence, Ferry Irawan Asks Not to Be Detained

Dream - Ferry Irawan has been declared a suspect by the East Java Regional Police in the case of Domestic Violence (KDRT) against his wife, Venna Melinda.

However, Ferry's lawyer, Jeffry Simatupang, requested that the police not proceed with the detention of his client.

"The detention is the authority of the investigators, of the police. We also ask the East Java Police not to continue the detention of Mr. Ferry in order to maintain communication," said Jeffry Simatupang, as quoted from Merdeka.com, Monday, January 16, 2023.

According to Jeffry, Ferry has a medical history. However, Jeffry did not mention specifically what illness he meant.

This reason is given so that the legal process undergone by Ferry Irawan can run smoothly and he can receive medical treatment outside of prison.

Ferry Irawan visited the East Java Regional Police in Surabaya to undergo examination after his status was changed from a witness to a suspect.

Ferry arrived at the East Java Regional Police at around 10:15 AM wearing a white shirt and accompanied by his lawyer, Jeffry Simatupang.
