The Manila International Airport Authority is still conducting an investigation to uncover the exact cause of the fire, which according to witnesses, was triggered by a grass fire. MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines stated that the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, he emphasized that strong winds have worsened the situation.

Not only that, a fire also occurred in Pasig City in the early morning, reaching the third alarm. The fire has caused at least 80 families to lose their homes. This situation reinforces concerns about the impact of extreme weather, especially amid rising temperatures in most parts of the Philippines.

The phenomenon of El Niño has caused forest fires in several regions, while the water level in the main reservoirs has dropped below normal. The Department of Health reports that since the beginning of this year, six people have died from heat-related illnesses.

This strengthens the reminder for people to remain vigilant against diseases such as heat exhaustion and cramps. PAGASA has also issued warnings about extreme temperatures in several areas, with some cities estimated to reach up to 45 degrees Celsius.
