Dream - The prayer for breaking the fast in Ramadan should be known by every Muslim. Considering that this blessed month has arrived and for the next month, Muslims are obligated to observe fasting. Islam advises its followers to hasten in breaking the fast. Now, in breaking the fast, friends of Dream should not forget to recite the prayer for breaking the fast in Ramadan beforehand. This prayer is part of the etiquette of breaking the fast and also has various virtues behind it.
"In addition, Dream's friends also need to know that there are several types of readings for the Ramadan iftar prayer according to hadith."
The following is a variety of Ramadan iftar prayers that can be practiced as summarized by Dream through various sources.
There are several kinds of Ramadan iftar prayers that can be practiced by Muslims, namely as follows:
From the companion Ibn Umar ra, the Prophet Muhammad saw, when breaking the fast, recited the following prayer:
"
The second Ramadan breaking fast prayer is still narrated by Abu Daud from Mu'adz bin Zahrah, the Prophet Muhammad once recited the following prayer: "اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ، وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ" (Allahumma laka shumtu wa 'alaa rizqika afthartu) which means: "O Allah, for You I fast, and with Your sustenance I break my fast." (HR. Abu Daud no. 2011)
In our society, usually an additional prayer is added to the above as follows: اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ (Allahummalakasumtu wabika aamantu wa'alaa rizqika afthortu birohmatikaya ar-hamarrahimin). It means: "O Allah, the Most Merciful of all, for You I fast and with Your sustenance and mercy I break my fast."
Then the prayer narrated by Ibn Sunni from Mu'adz bin Zahrah: الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَعَانَنِي فَصَمْتُ، وَرَزَقَنِي فَأَفْطَرْتُ Alhamdulillahilladzi a'aananii fashamtu, wa razaqanii faafthartu. Meaning: "All praise be to Allah who helped me so I could fast, and who provided me with sustenance so I could break my fast." (Narrated by Ibn Sunni)
The fourth Ramadan breaking fast prayer is still narrated by Ibn Sunni, but from the companion Ibn Abbas: "Allahumma shumnaa, wa 'alaa rizqika aftharnaa, fataqabbal Minna innaka antas samii’ul ‘aliim." Meaning: "O Allah, because of You we fast, and with Your provision we break our fast, so accept (our fast), for You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing." (HR: Ibn Sunni)
As narrated by Ibn Majah and Ibn Sunni, from Ibn Umar, the opening prayer for breaking the fast is as follows: اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي Allahumma inni asaluka birahmatikallatii wasi'at kulla syaiin antaghfira lii. Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy that encompasses everything, to forgive me." (See more: al-Nawawi, al-Adzkar, p. 190)
There are several recommended etiquettes for breaking the fast as prescribed by Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as follows:
The first is to hasten in breaking the fast. That is when the sun has set. As explained in the following hadith: "Human beings are always in goodness as long as they hasten in breaking the fast." (HR. Bukhari, Muslim, Ibnu Majah, Darami, Malik, Baihaqi, Ahmad, and Tirmidzi)
(HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)
There is something equally important when breaking the fast, which is reciting the opening prayer for breaking the Ramadan fast. The Prophet Muhammad said: "There are three people whose prayers are not rejected: 1) the person who fasts until breaking the fast, 2) a just leader, 3) and the oppressed person." (HR. Ibn Majah, Ahmad, and Tirmidhi)
The next etiquette when breaking the fast is to eat dates or drink water. In this matter, the Prophet Muhammad ate an odd number of dates. If there were no dates, then he would break his fast by drinking water.
Then, the Prophet Muhammad immediately performed the Maghrib prayer and then ate a heavy meal or a large meal. The Prophet Muhammad said, "If the dinner has been served, eat the food before you perform the Maghrib prayer and do not rush in eating it." (Narrated by Bukhari, Muslim, and Ahmad)
