"Dream - Seek knowledge as high as the sky. That quote seems to aptly describe the spirit of a 105-year-old grandmother named Ginnie Hislop. In her twilight years, Hislop does not want her time to be wasted just sitting around. The woman from the United States has just completed her master's degree at Stanford University after delaying her studies for over 83 years."

"Hislop graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1940. After graduating, he continued his Master's studies and began preparing his thesis. However, Hislop's lover, George Hislop, was called to serve as a soldier in World War II. Eventually, Hislop and his lover decided to get married and leave campus before the graduation ceremony so they could live in Fort Sill, Oklahoma together."

"After the war, Hislop and his family moved to Yakima, Washington to take care of their two children. Although he had not graduated, Hislop utilized his talents to further his education in other areas. Hislop became a member of the school board in Yakima and the founder of the board of directors of Yakima Community College and helped establish Heritage University in Toppenish, Washington."

"I feel that I have done good things for our school system and I have helped develop it," he said. In addition to managing the school, Hislop is also active in a community and takes care of his garden. He also spends a lot of time with his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren."

"After eight decades, Stanford has finally adjusted the master's degree requirements to no longer require a thesis. Standing on stage, Hislop felt disbelief at earning his master's degree. “Oh my God. I have been waiting a long time for this,” he said in a news release provided by Stanford University."
