"A boy has been rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a crocodile."
The nine-year-old boy was airlifted by helicopter from Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia to a hospital in the nearest city, Darwin, on Saturday night to receive treatment for his injuries.
"We received an emergency call regarding a nine-year-old child who was bitten by a crocodile and suffered several stab wounds," said St John Ambulance Emergency Communications Manager, Craig Garraway, to local news media.
"Parks Australia stated that the child was bitten while swimming near Jabiru, a small town in the national park about 160 miles from Darwin."

"This incident occurred in an area within Kakadu National Park that is not accessible to the general public," said a spokesperson for Parks Australia to local media.
The child is still in critical condition, but is currently stable. Newsweek has attempted to contact Parks Australia for a comment.
"After the attack, the patient was taken to the Jabiru Health Centre, where a specialist doctor and CareFlight flight nurses treated the patient at the Jabiru clinic," said a CareFlight spokesperson, who operates the medical retrieval service in the Northern Territory, to ABC. "The patient was then transported by plane... to [Royal] Darwin Hospital in critical but stable condition.""
"About 10 Thousand Crocodiles"
There are about 10,000 crocodiles in Kakadu National Park alone, contributing about 10 percent of the total crocodile population in the Northern Territory. Both freshwater crocodiles and saltwater crocodiles can be found in this region, but saltwater crocodiles are much larger and therefore more dangerous.
The translation of the given 'Bahasa' text to 'English' while preserving the HTML tags is as follows: "Alligator water is considered one of the most dangerous crocodile species, along with the Nile crocodile in Africa, about half of all attacks by this species worldwide end in death."
Saltwater crocodiles can be found throughout Australia and Southeast Asia, with approximately 200,000 of these reptiles living in Australia alone.
They can grow more than 20 feet long, and have a very strong bite.
Around a thousand people die every year.
It is estimated that around 1,000 people are killed each year by saltwater crocodiles worldwide, but attacks are relatively rare in Australia. According to data released by the government in 2017, only about one person is attacked each year in Australia. Only three deaths have been recorded in the country since 2018.
Some unfortunate victims of the attacks include 24-year-old Financial Times journalist, Paul McClean, who was killed by a crocodile in Sri Lanka in 2017 while washing his hands in a lagoon, pulled into the water by the reptile, and scientist Deasy Tuwo, who was killed and eaten by a crocodile at a research facility in North Sulawesi, Indonesia in 2019.
