Dream - Traditional medicine is still widely preserved by the community today. This technique usually develops from generation to generation and with slightly different techniques from medical approaches. One of the traditional treatments that is still often practiced by the community is cupping. Cupping, also known as hijama, is a legacy of treatment that was often performed by the Prophet Muhammad because it has a positive impact on health. Some celebrities and world athletes even apply the same method.
In a narration, Ad-Dailami from Ali bin Abi Thalib, Jibril came to Prophet Muhammad SAW and commanded to do cupping at the point of al-akhdain (neck veins) and al-kahil (shoulder).
Cupping is a method of treatment by sucking or extracting blood by making small incisions on the surface of the skin. Blood will come out of the body through injured blood vessels. Cupping requires gentle cuts to extract blood sucked by a cupping tool.
According to health experts, the best time to do cupping is at 2 pm or 3 pm. Cupping should not be done after sexual intercourse or other heavy activities. Cupping should also not be done on a full stomach.
Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) once said that there is actually no prohibition on cupping on specific days. However, he emphasized the hadith that determines the timing of cupping on the 17th, 19th, and 21st days of the Islamic lunar calendar.
From Anas bin Malik, he said: "Formerly the companions of the Prophet used to do cupping on odd dates of a month." (HR. Thabrani). "Formerly the companions of the Prophet used to do cupping on the 17th, 19th, and 21st day."
The habit of the companions of cupping on odd dates is based on the practice of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Some hadith experts confirm that the above hadith is a marfu' hadith, meaning it goes back to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Just as Imam Tirmidhi, when narrating a hadith from Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "The Prophet Muhammad SAW used to undergo cupping on the veins and the back (spine). He would undergo cupping on the 17th, 19th, and 21st dates." (Narrated by Tirmidhi, this hadith is considered hasan)
Furthermore, Ibnu Qayyim rahimahullah stated that the mentioned times for cupping in the hadith have been proven by doctors at that time and indeed have a positive impact on the body's health. Doctors believe that cupping in the second half and afterwards of the last three quarters is more beneficial for health than the first and last.
Knowing the time for cupping is very important to obtain optimal benefits. As for the times that are not recommended for cupping, they are on Saturdays and Wednesdays. This statement is quoted by Ibn Qayyim in Zadul Ma'ad from Khallal.
"\u201cIt is disliked to perform cupping on Saturdays and Wednesdays, as emphasized in the narration of Abu Thalib. Imam Ahmad, in the narration of Muhammad bin Hasan, stated Friday. (Ibnu Muflih rahimahullah)"
History of Zuhri mursal (the name of the companion is not mentioned), "Whoever performs cupping on Saturday or Wednesday, then is afflicted with leprosy, do not criticize except himself." It is narrated to Ahmad that there was a person who performed cupping on Wednesday and belittled the hadith by saying, "What kind of hadith is this? Then he was afflicted with leprosy." Then Ahmad said, "No one is worthy of belittling a hadith." (HR. Khallal)
The translation of the text while preserving the HTML tags is as follows: "Treating the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad SAW certainly brings many benefits to the health of the body. Cupping is included in thibbun nabawi or the treatment of the Prophet that is worthy for us to follow. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said: "Cupping in the middle of the neck because it can cure 72 kinds of diseases.""
Promote blood circulation. Treat inflammation. Overcome various diseases. Reduce free radicals that cause disease. Remove red blood cells that are no longer needed by the body. Lower cholesterol. Reduce levels of fatty acids. Regenerate red blood cells. Improve immune system.
