Dream - Bulan Suro for most Javanese people has various myths, one of which is prohibited from getting married. This is because the month brings misfortune and disaster. Now, the presence of the Suro month also coincides with the Islamic New Year, namely the month of Muharram. Where Muharram is one of the noble months in Islam that is recommended to be filled with many righteous deeds. So, what is Islam's view regarding getting married in the month of Suro? Does Islam allow it?

In a hadith it is explained as follows: "Indeed, this time has passed (turned), as it did at the beginning when Allah created the heavens and the earth, in which one year has 12 months. Among them are four sacred months, three months which are consecutive, namely Zulkaidah, Zulhijah, and Muharram. Then Rajab, which is between Jumadil (End) and Syaban." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim) A Muslim who performs righteous deeds in the month of Muharram will have their rewards multiplied by Allah SWT.

Just as a person who commits sins, their sins will also be multiplied by Allah SWT. Therefore, Dream's friends should not waste the month of Muharram just like that. Frequently worship and do righteous deeds to obtain rewards, goodness, and blessings from Allah SWT. So, what about getting married? Is it allowed? As we know, getting married is one of the commands in Islam. In Islam, there is actually no day or month that brings misfortune. All days and months are good.

So, Muslims are free to choose when the time is right to get married, including during the month of Suro. Because all days and months in Islam are considered good in the eyes of Allah SWT.

"The month of Muharram is a sacred month. This is proven since ancient times, where the Arab society was prohibited from waging war during four months that were considered sacred and forbidden. Namely, the months of Zulkaidah, Zulhijjah, Muharram, and Rajab. So, in this sacred month, it is recommended to do many righteous deeds and worship Allah SWT."

The month of Muharram is the month of Allah SWT or known as the sacred month of Al-Asham. As the Prophet Muhammad said: \

"In addition, the virtue of the month of Muharram is a month that is honored. This is because in the month of Muharram there is the day of Ashura which is recommended for Muslims to fast voluntarily. As explained in the following hadith: 'When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) arrived in Madinah, he saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked, 'What day is this?'"

They answered, "A good day, a day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day as a form of gratitude to Allah. Finally, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, 'We (the Muslims) should honor Musa more than you.' Then, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) fasted and commanded the companions to fast." (HR. Muslim)

The month of Muharram is a month of honor because it is highly respected by Allah SWT. As stated in Surah At-Taubah verse 36:
