Dream - In one week, Friday becomes a very special day for Muslims. On this day, Muslim men are required to perform Friday prayer. The virtue of Friday prayer cannot be underestimated. Allah SWT has prepared rewards equivalent to 4 times the pilgrimage in one month for those who perform Friday prayer. Friday prayer is only performed with two rak'ahs and can be done in the nearest mosque. On the other hand, the pilgrimage must be well prepared, even waiting for years to be able to depart to the Holy Land.
Well, to find out the reason why the reward for Friday prayer is equivalent to performing Hajj four times in a month, here is as summarized by Dream through various sources.
Through the book Al-Mawaizh Al-Usfuriyah, it is explained that the reward for Friday prayers is extremely extraordinary. It is equivalent to the act of performing Hajj four times in a month.
As narrated by Syekh Muhammad bin Abu Bakar Ushfury, there was someone who had a conversation with a grave expert. Al Imam az-Zandusiti said, "I have heard that Imam Abu Muhammad bin Abdillah bin Fadhl conveyed a story when he was teaching. He told the story in Persian language. The story goes that it was narrated from Al-Auza'i that he said, one day Maisaroh bin Khunais passed by the graves."
He said: "May safety be poured upon all of you, O People of the Grave! You have preceded us and we will follow you. May Allah have mercy, forgive, and bless us and all of you when facing Him, that is when we have experienced what we have experienced." Then, Allah SWT returned the soul to the body of the inhabitant of the grave. Then the inhabitant of the grave replied to Maisaroh's greeting: "You are very fortunate, O inhabitants of the world! You can perform Hajj four times every month."
Maisaroh then asked, "Where can we perform Hajj four times every month? May Allah bless you." The inhabitants of the grave answered, "Go for Friday prayers. Don't you know that Friday prayers are like accepted and blessed Hajj?" "Tell us a deed that we can always do!" said Maisaroh. "Seek forgiveness! O inhabitants of the world! Seeking forgiveness is the most beneficial thing in the afterlife," answered the inhabitants of the grave.
"What made you not respond to our greetings earlier?" "Greetings are a form of kindness. And kindness has been taken away from us. Therefore, our kindness will not increase and our bad deeds will not decrease." In a hadith, it is also explained about the virtue of Friday prayer in relation to the pilgrimage. "Friday is the pilgrimage for the poor." (HR. Al-Qadlai'i and Ibn Asakir from Ibn Abbas) Although the hadith above has a weak chain of narrators, it can still be practiced because it is related to the virtues of deeds and not to establish a law.
"Friday prayer is one of the acts of worship that holds great virtue in Islam. Here are some other virtues of Friday prayer:"
Friday prayer can be a means of erasing minor sins that occur between two Fridays, as long as one does not commit major sins. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The five daily prayers, from one Friday to the next, and from one Ramadan to the next, are an expiation for the sins committed between them, as long as one avoids major sins." (Narrated by Muslim)
Friday prayer has a very great reward, even greater than other prayers. In a hadith, it is mentioned that going to the mosque for Friday prayer since the morning has a great reward: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday like the bath of janabah (major ritual impurity) and then goes (to the mosque), it is as if he has sacrificed a camel. Whoever goes at the second hour, it is as if he has sacrificed a cow."
Whoever departs on the third time, it is as if he has sacrificed with a horned goat. Whoever departs on the fourth time, it is as if he has sacrificed with a chicken. And whoever departs on the fifth time, it is as if he has sacrificed with an egg. When the imam comes out (to give the sermon), the angels are present to listen to the sermon." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
People who regularly perform Friday prayers will receive light on the Day of Judgment. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: 'Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, uses oil or perfume from his house, then goes (to the mosque) and does not separate two people sitting (does not pass in front of them), then prays according to what is prescribed for him, then remains silent when the imam comes, his sins between two Fridays will be forgiven.' (Narrated by Bukhari)
By doing so, performing Friday prayers is not only an obligation for men, but also has many virtues and great rewards for Muslims.
