Scientists have discovered the fossil of a giant worm in Northern Greenland that provides clues about past predator dynasties. They have named this creature Timorebestia, which literally means "terrifying animal" in Latin. It is believed that this animal was one of the early predators that lived in water over 500 million years ago.
According to Jakob Vinther, a professor of macroevolution at the University of Bristol, Timorebestia was a giant during that era and became the top of the food chain. According to him, this puts it on par with some of the major carnivores in the modern ocean, such as sharks and sea lions in the Cambrian period.
The following text in 'Bahasa' translates to 'English' while preserving any html tags: "The fossils were found in Sirius Passet, a sedimentary deposit that is over half a billion years old and located in Peary Land, North Greenland. This site, whose existence was accidentally discovered in 1984."
With the extraordinary preservation that occurred in Sirius Passet, we are able to reveal interesting anatomical details, including the digestive system, muscles, and nervous system of these ancient animals.
Although the modern relatives of this giant worm are typically found at low levels in the food chain, feeding on zooplankton and small fish, they play a very important role in their surrounding ecosystem. In their digestive system, remnants of larger swimming arthropods, including groups of animals such as insects and shrimp, are revealed.
