"Dream - Apple CEO Tim Cook met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The number one person in the company built by Steve Jobs came dressed in a blue suit and matching pants."
While walking into the Presidential Palace, Tim Cook made a "two-finger" gesture, which is commonly regarded as a peace gesture, to the media. He also greeted them with a good morning. In the meeting, Tim Cook and President Jokowi are planned to discuss Apple's investment in Indonesia. This plan was confirmed by the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi.
"This Apple is part of how our country attracts investment and attention for the future technology advancement ecosystem," said Budi Arie at the Presidential Palace, Wednesday, April 17, 2024."
Tim Cook has served as the CEO of Apple since 2011. He succeeded Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, who passed away on October 5, 2011. Tim Cook is an American business executive who became the seventh CEO of Apple Inc after Steve Jobs, Gil Amelio, Michael Spindler, John Sculley, Mike Markkula, and Michael Scott. With his current position, Tim Cook is one of the wealthiest CEOs in the world.
Tim Cook is also active in philanthropic activities. Before being appointed CEO in August 2011, he was Apple's chief operating officer under the leadership of one of Apple's founders, Steve Jobs. He is responsible for Apple's sales and operations worldwide.
In his first year as CEO of Apple, Tim Cook had an annual salary of US$900 thousand or around Rp14.6 billion. Cook's income is relatively low compared to executives at Amazon, Tesla, and Facebook. In 2017, his salary increased to US$3 million per year or around Rp48 billion. In addition to his salary, the CEO also owns shares in the company. As reported by Forbes, he owns 3.3 million shares, which is equivalent to less than 1 percent.
Cook has received 5 million shares, of which 1.7 million worth US$750 million have already been released, which is the qualifying amount according to the 2011 Agreement he made with Steve Jobs. Real-time data from Forbes records, Tim Cook's current wealth is US$2 billion or around Rp32.4 trillion (exchange rate of Rp16,234 per US$).
To be the CEO of a company worth more than US$1 trillion, Tim Cook leads a relatively simple life. He has an interest in the great outdoors and enjoys spending his money on charitable causes. As the son of a shipyard worker and a pharmacy employee, Cook claims that money has never been a motivation for him. He prefers to live his life privately and buys discounted clothing rather than spending millions.
One of Tim Cook's properties is a simple condominium in Palo Alto, California. With just over 2,000 square feet of space, this house has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a small backyard. The house may look small but cozy, and Cook bought it for $1.9 million or Rp30 billion, but the value of the house has increased to $3.3 million or Rp53 billion since then.
"Although having fantastic wealth, Cook is not happy with extravagance, including clothing matters. He is reported to buy discounted clothes at the department store Nordstrom. 'I am happy to remember where I came from and putting myself in a humble environment helps me do that. Money is not my motivation,' said Cook."
