Dream - Lebaran Ketupat is one of the traditions of the Javanese people that still continues until now. This celebration is held one week after Eid al-Fitr. Although it is only celebrated once a year, every Lebaran Ketupat is always welcomed by the community with joy and excitement. The origin of this celebration comes from Javanese culture, which is one of the largest ethnic groups in Indonesia. The meaning of Lebaran Ketupat itself has many interpretations. Ketupat itself is a traditional food made from steamed rice wrapped in palm leaf or coconut leaf. The celebration of Lebaran Ketupat takes place one week after Eid al-Fitr. This celebration is usually held after the end of the Ramadan month, precisely on the first day of the month of Shawwal in the Hijri calendar.

In the celebration of Lebaran Ketupat, Muslims in Indonesia also carry out the tradition of visiting each other and gathering with family. Typical foods such as ketupat, rendang, opor ayam, and traditional cakes will be served as symbols of harmony and togetherness. This celebration not only becomes a moment of gathering but also a moment to share happiness and ask for forgiveness.

The Javanese community believes that this tradition was introduced by Sunan Kalijaga, where the community at that time often held slametan events. In the past, Sunan Kalijaga introduced two terms, namely Bakda Lebaran which is a tradition of gathering and asking for forgiveness after Eid prayer. And Bakda Kupat (Lebaran Ketupat) which is a celebration a week after Eid. Lebaran Ketupat is performed as a complement to the Ramadan fast, which is to complete the calculation of one year of fasting with six days of voluntary fasting in the month of Syawal.

So, the Ketupat Lebaran is celebrated as a day of victory for having observed fasting for a month. Well, this Ketupat Lebaran tradition also serves as a means to introduce the teachings of Islam about expressing gratitude to Allah SWT, giving charity, and fostering togetherness during the day of celebration.

First of all, ketupat, which is a traditional food for Eid al-Fitr, has the philosophy of apology and blessings. Ketupat is made from rice wrapped in young coconut leaf weaving called janur kuning. Rice symbolizes desire, while young coconut leaf or janur symbolizes 'jati ning nur' which means 'conscience'. Ketupat is symbolized as a person who is expected to restrain worldly desires with their conscience. Not only that, ketupat is also interpreted as 'jarwa dhosok' or 'ngaku lepat'. Where there is a message that someone must apologize when making a mistake.
