Dream - Apple CEO Tim Cook arrived at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 morning, to meet with President Joko Widodo. Tim Cook and his entourage arrived at the Presidential Palace courtyard at around 08.55 AM WIB. The number one person in the company built by Steve Jobs came wearing a blue suit with matching pants.
While walking into the Presidential Palace, Tim Cook made a "two-finger" gesture, or commonly regarded as a peace gesture, to the media crew. Not forgetting, he also greeted them with a good morning.
After Tim Cook entered the Palace area, shortly after Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita followed to attend the meeting.
In that meeting, Tim Cook and President Jokowi are planned to discuss Apple's investment in Indonesia. The plan was confirmed by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi.

Budi emphasizes that the discussion about Apple's investment as the largest technology giant from the United States can make Indonesia become a global supply chain for the product.
"Mobile Phone Production"
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, stated that mobile phone production in Indonesia in 2023 reached 49 million units, while imports were only 2.79 million units. Out of the 2.79 million imported mobile phone units, 85 percent of them came from Apple products.
According to Agus, Apple is a unique approach for the government to create Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in order to create added value for the country. "Therefore, the interest of Indonesia remains in creating its added value in Indonesia," said Agus.
