Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continued his journey to Vietnam on Thursday, January 11, 2024. After a three-hour flight from Manila, Philippines, Jokowi arrived at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, at around 14.45 local time. According to the Presidential Secretariat website, from the airport, Jokowi went directly to the hotel where he would be staying in Hanoi. Upon arrival at the hotel, President Jokowi was welcomed by Consul General of Ho Chi Minh City Agustaviano Sofjan, General Manager of Hotel Melia Hanoi Santiago Cabre, staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi, and a number of Indonesian citizens and diaspora.
Not only that, Jokowi also received a warm welcome from Indonesian citizens who are online motorcycle taxi drivers in Vietnam. When Jokowi arrived, they collectively performed a flashmob dance accompanied by music.
"Seeing the excitement of online motorcycle taxi partners, Jokowi briefly joined and danced in the middle of the group. He appeared to clench both of his hands as if riding a two-wheeled vehicle."
Then the President followed the Indonesian citizens by moving his body to the left and right. Seeing the President in the middle of them, the partners wearing green jackets seemed more enthusiastic, swaying while holding the red and white flag.
"Received a Warm Welcome from Indonesian Citizens"
After dancing for a while, Jokowi then expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian citizens who are online motorcycle taxi partners for warmly welcoming him in front of the hotel. Not only that, he was also greeted by Indonesian sons and daughters who were wearing traditional clothes.
"In Hanoi, President Jokowi is scheduled to meet with several leaders of Vietnam, namely President Vietnam Võ Văn Thưởng, Prime Minister Vietnam Phạm Minh Chính, and President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vương Đình Huệ."
The President's visit to Vietnam this time is part of a series of trips to two other countries, namely the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam. The visit, which took place from January 9th to January 14th, 2023, aims to strengthen friendship and cooperation with Indonesia.
