Although there are no North Korean citizens in Gaza, this poster aims to show gratitude to North Korea for not supporting America's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Rami Raba, the restaurant owner, admits that the reason for making the poster is as a form of gratitude to Kim Jong-un, who did not support President Donald Trump's decision at that time. He explained that the poster is more symbolic, showing the world that there is someone who dares to stand against the US.

The decision made by Trump on December 6th disregarded the advice of American allies such as France. This decision also reversed decades-long American policy that viewed claims over Jerusalem as needing to be resolved through negotiations between Israel and Palestine. This decision triggered strong protests from Islamic leaders and fierce clashes between Palestinian civilians and Israeli security forces in Gaza and the West Bank.

For the Palestinian people, the decision damages their hopes of making East Jerusalem the capital of their future state and affects the peace process. The North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemns the decision and refers to it as a "senile" action that shows the "true colors of the US."

North Korea has a warm history of relations with the Palestinian authority. North Korea hosts the Palestinian diplomatic mission in Pyongyang and exchanges messages at official events. For Raba, North Korea's message is stronger and more convincing compared to messages from Muslim leaders like Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
